چکیده

Planting healthy seedlings with optimal growth potential is essential for proper and survival in forest regeneration. Assessing the seedling quality prior to planting therefore important. In this Icelandic study, effects of root damage induced artificial freezing young Russian larch were examined using capacity method (RGC). Frost tolerance roots varied during winter, undamaged fluctuated, indicating seasonal variations rhythm. The LT50 value frost was −13.9°C late January, but already at −10.6°C (LT10) damages severe. After one growing season, shoot elongation significantly lower frozen −9°C, −13.5°C, −15.5°C by 23%, 54%, 72%, respectively, compared seedlings. Control −9°C achieved 100% after first season. Survival −13.5°C 85% 27%, respectively. second decreased all frost-damaged ongoing mortality demonstrates long-lasting damaged systems, fluctuation winter emphasises need care when are moved outdoor storage.

Kin Recognition Alters Root and Whole Plant Growth of Split-root Cycas edentata Seedlings

Split-root techniques were used to determine if Cycas edentata seedling roots possessed identity recognition capabilities. One compartment of the split-root containers contained a competing half-sibling seedling, and the second compartment contained one of four treatments. When the second compartment contained a half-sibling or C. edentata seedling from the same habitat, root growth did not dif...

On Testing for Randomized Unit Root and Seasonal Unit Root

A lot of time series analysis in economics and nance is to determine whether a unit root and/or seasonal unit root is present in the data. These tests are usually based on unit root tests orginally developed by Dickey & Fuller(1981). Testing for the presence of a seasonal root has been considered by Dickey, Hasza & Fuller (1984). Li(1991) considered tests for the existence of a seasonal and a r...
